About Us

A Code Purple Shelter is not a traditional shelter, it gives emergency shelter to aid the homeless on the cold winter nights.

Code Purple is open from December 1st through March 15th and we are open regardless of temperatures.

Please call the Code Purple Hotline at 302-519-0024 to make arrangements to stay at one of our shelters. If you have Code Purple volunteer questions or donation questions, please call 302-956-6006 (ext 302) and leave a message for us. We will return your call as quickly as possible.

Mission: Our mission is to offer shelter to those with no home by utilizing the local churches, their sanctuaries, time, talent, and support to save lives during cold weather in Sussex County and to offer hope for a future to our struggling neighbors.

*Note* We are very protective of our guests privacy. We believe that it is crucial that we keep anyone intending harm to one of our guests away from them. For that reason, we will not inform anyone calling about a guest as to if that guest is staying with us. We will take your number and give it to the guest without informing you if they are actually in the shelter. If that guest would like to call you then they will based on their own decision. We hope you understand our reasoning and help us keep our guests safe.
