Covid-19 Changes to Shelter

We have implemented some changes this year in order to keep everyone safe and healthy this season.

Some of these changes include:

  • We have to limit the number of beds this year in order to comply with the CDC best practices of social distancing the beds 6′ from one another. This will include a cap of 14 at most sites. Some will be less than that due to the space that we have available, since each site looks different.
  • Reserving a bed for the night ahead of time. Guests must follow the instructions to call each morning to reserve a bed for the night. This will allow for us to manage and fill as many beds as we have available. We don’t want any empty beds. Guests will call LoveINC at 629-7050 Mon-Fri from 10am-3pm. They will call the Hotline at 519-0024 on Sat and Sun from 10am-3pm.
  • All guests and volunteers will have to wear a mask in the shelter unless they are laying down on their beds.
  • We will not be having community dinners. Each town will vary in the ways that we feed our guests. Please see our website page about shelter sites and their dinner methods. Code Purple Shelter Site Page
  • Our check in times will be later and at each individual site. Guests will show up at the site they were referred to between 8:30-9:00pm (exception is Georgetown site). No check-ins after 9pm unless pre-approved. All the details can be found on the Code Purple Shelter Site Page
  • We will be doing screening for Covid-19 during the intake phone call and then again at the site when the guest arrives.
  • We have plans in place to help guests that may be feeling ill or are positive for Covid-19 and will implement them as needed.
